Someone once said to me never buy your local pub. If you do, then your haven becomes your nightmare. (Everyone knows that a good pub or restaurant is really owned by the customers anyway, the official “owners” are merely the custodians that look after the place from one generation to the next.) It was with this in mind that I did indeed resist the purchasing of my So how come I bought a pub at all? Basically my nephew, the brilliant chef now resident at The Mulberry Inn and Lickfold, was being treated like pond life by his then current employer so I told him that if he heard of anywhere available we should give it a go. So we did and the result is now three pubs. How one turned into three I’m not quite sure, we must like it. Who knows where it will end? I love food and I love eating out, I am in no way an expert restaurateur but I am happy to claim to be an expert customer. It is with the help of this many years of extensive “research” that I have sat in our three places and said yes, this is somewhere I would like to sit, scoff and soak up what’s on offer. I love our pubs, love them. X. |
